SharkNinja

In July 2021, I was fortunate enough to be chosen for a New Product Development Engineering Co-op position on SharkNinja’s Ninja heated team. For the following 14 months I worked closely with international teams in Marketing, Engineering, Design, and Product Development to create beautiful, highly-functional kitchen products, focusing mainly on the new Outdoor Grill.

My main contribution on the Ninja Outdoor Grill was designing an IPX-compliant PCBA housing for the UI and power components. It proved a rewarding challenge, designing under a combination of thermal, environmental, and high-voltage electrical limitations, all while ensuring manufacturability at large scale. I learned a lot from this project, from designing for electrical creepage and clearances, to designing for passive cooling. I was also responsible for designing the temperature probe storage system, a key user touchpoint. In order to verify these contributions, I performed interaction and touchpoint testing before continuing to optimize the design.
